“You Are More Ready Than You Think”: Meghna Deshraj’s Message to Every Woman Starting Over

She has mentored women in boardrooms and living rooms, through launches and losses, through moments of brilliant clarity and crippling self-doubt. Meghna Deshraj has seen it all, and she has never stopped believing in the potential she sees in the women around her.
You are known for being a mentor to many women. What does mentorship mean to you personally?
It means showing up with honesty and without ego. The best mentor I ever had was someone who told me the truth even when it was uncomfortable, but always made me feel like she was in my corner. That is the kind of mentor I try to be. I am not here to flatter anyone. I am here to help them see what is actually possible for them, and then help them believe it enough to go after it.
What is the most common thing you see holding women back?
The story they are telling themselves. Almost every woman I have ever worked with has a voice inside her head that is keeping a running commentary on why she is not quite ready, not quite qualified, not quite enough. My job, in a lot of ways, is to help her rewrite that story. Because the external obstacles are real, yes. But the internal ones are the ones that stop people before they even begin.
How do you personally handle self-doubt?
I walk into it. I have learned that the only way through it is through it. When I feel that familiar tightness, that ‘who do you think you are,’ I sit with it for exactly five minutes. I acknowledge it. And then I ask myself: what is the most courageous thing I can do right now? And I do that. Every single time.
What does Club Mamabee offer women that traditional mentorship programs don’t?
Community. The thing about one-on-one mentorship is that it is incredible but it is also limited. What happens inside Club Mamabee is something different. It is peer mentorship at scale. You are not just getting one person’s perspective, you are getting the collective wisdom of hundreds of women who have walked different paths, built different things, survived different storms. That diversity of experience is irreplaceable. We built the hive on that principle. One woman’s insight becomes everyone’s advantage.
What is your message to the woman who is reading this right now and wondering if she is ready?
You are more ready than you think. You have been preparing for this, even when it didn’t feel like it. Every role you’ve held, every challenge you’ve navigated, every time you figured it out even when you weren’t sure you could. That is your foundation. And at Club Mamabee, we will build on it with you.
